My dear friends, for the last eight years, my wife and I have attended each year for this reunion of Rick Nelson fans, and it is always a great pleasure and expectation that when it's over, we count the days to the next one. We have made many friends and we have become really a small family-a Rick Nelson family-so we miss those who are gone and some that for particular reasons were not able to join us in the past two years. Julie and Andrew Hall; David and Pam Nelhams; and Brith and Arild Kirkeby who were sadly unable to attend as Brith's father passed away right at the time they should have been with us. This year Zoe Bridges took care of the organization of the event and as expected everything was perfect. Bridlington in East Yorkshire is a lovely seaside resort and the "BAY VIEW" hotel is absolutely great. Very well situated facing the sea; and what can I say about the managers and the staff??? They enjoyed the weekend themselves so much that the managers, Jill and Daryl became members of the club!!! The food was good and the reunion room decorations were perfect with lots of photos of Rick, and the entertainment was absolutely fabulous with great performances by Steve Taylor who is also a ricky fan as I am sure everyone noticed; and I say PERFOMANCES, because the man sang and played for us Saturday and Sunday nights, and I was told later, on Monday night too for some residents-always with a amile on his face and enjoying himself immensely. I must mention here a very special surprise that Zoe had for us on Friday evening. She and Mel had recently returned from America, and had been to see Gunnar and Matthew and also got them to sit before their video camera and say a few words to us, and wish they could have been with us, then they sang a few lines of 'GARDEN PARTY' before giving us a wave and wishing us all the very best for the weekend!! This was a truly wonderful surprise. Anyway, back to the entertainment. To keep Steve company, we had the participation od some other well known stars in Bernard "Elvis Presley" Dresser; Jackie "Barbra Striesland" Clauson; John "Frank Sinatra" Manley; and this humble servant of yours, Daniel "Rick Nelson" Bacelar; and not forgetting our own "Brenda Lee" on duty-Zoe Bridges. I don't know if our performances were a huge success, but one thing I can tell you-we had a GREAT time! Sunday saw our usual coach trip. We went to the lovely historic city of York and we were very lucky because it was supposed to rain, but instead the sun was shining.
Once again, a word of appreciation for Steve and Heather Taylor whom we already consider as members of our small family. WELCOME!!!

Our thanks also to the guys from BBC Radio Humberside who did the interviews with Zoe about the event and played Rick's music. Very nice, and very kind of them to show such interest in us.
Sunday night, the Rick word search; crossword and general knowledge quiz prizes were delivered to the happy winners...Janis Gude; Hilda Gough and, of corse, Keith Randle (the man knows everything as far as Rick and pop music is concerned, and really is a walking encyclopedia).
The autographed DVD of the twins and the bottle of bubbly and Bay View teddy bear raised £50 which will be converted ionto dollars and sent to Matthew and Gunnar Nelson for their charity work.
John Manley (our webmaster) from Cork in Ireland won the autographed DVD; Margaret Bartlett won the bottle of bubbly; and Dave Benham won the Bay View Teddy Bear when the hotel management heard we were raising money for charity they said they would match the dvd with a bottle of bubbly and a Bay View teddy bvear. We actually ran out of raffle tickets so the hotel staff made us some more.
I shouldn't like to close this point of view without mentioning those who have sadly left us, and most recently Mary (Sylvia's mother) who passed away just a week or so before the reunion; our old friend Roy Hetherington, and also our dear Harry Kershaw. I will always remember his open smile and kind manners-a real gentleman who I miss very much.
Well, this is all for now for my wife and I. We had a great time as always, and we thank you all very much for your friendship and love; and to you Zoe, congratulations once more for a job well done-you should be in Public Relations somewhere, because you were meant to be.SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR, Daniel Bacelar
Thank you Daniel for this wonderful report-I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into it. We, as Daniel has said, see you all (AND HOPEFULLY SOME NEWCOMERS ALSO) at the Hotel DeLa Mer in Babbacome, Torquay where we were in 2004. The cost will be the same (£135) and full details will be in the next newsletter. Also, John Manley is looking into our having either the 2008 or 2009 reunion
in CORK CITY, IRELAND-should be great!!
